I had standing water on my commercial roof that was finding ways to get inside. I found the low point (easy enough) and installed the drain there. Water exits as fast as it accumulates and the leaks are gone. A bit of a job to engineer the installation and routing the drain but well worth the work. I used to use siphons but I'm not always at the building so my roof drain is there and never sleeps!!
