Representations of whelk and snail shells are interspersed with barnacles and pieces of coral, all made of dark ceramic clay. The entire composition is covered in a milky white finish that rests in greater thickness in some spots than in others. Made by a group of women who live at the border of Burma and Thailand, the incredible ivory lamp is built by hand, layer-by-layer, one motif at a time to bring it tremendous character.
